Terms and Conditions

Last updated: May 6, 2026

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Family Scam Shield website, emails, SMS alerts, and any related services (collectively, the “Service”). By subscribing, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Who We Serve

The Service is intended for residents of the United States who are at least 18 years old and capable of forming a legally binding contract. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements and are using it for personal or family use only, not for resale or redistribution.

2. Subscriptions, Billing, and Renewal

  • Family Scam Shield is offered as a recurring subscription with different plans (including optional free-trial plans) as described on the pricing page.
  • By starting a subscription, you authorize us to charge your chosen payment method on a recurring basis at the rate displayed at signup, until you cancel.
  • Prices, plans, and features may change; any changes will apply to new billing periods and you will be notified at least 30 days in advance.
  • We use a third-party payment processor to handle all billing. We do not store your full payment card details on our systems.

3. Refunds, Trials, and Cancellation

  • You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by emailing info@familyscamshield.com.
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You retain full access to the Service until that date.
  • We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee for first-time subscribers. If you are not satisfied within the first 30 days of a paid subscription, contact us at info@familyscamshield.com and we will issue a full refund, no questions asked.
  • After 30 days, all charges are non-refundable except where required by applicable law.
  • If a free trial is offered, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid plan at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before the trial ends. The trial length and applicable paid rate will be clearly disclosed at signup.

4. Use of the Service

Family Scam Shield provides educational scam-awareness content, example scripts, and real-time alerts for informational purposes only. The Service does not constitute financial, legal, cybersecurity, or investment advice and does not guarantee that you or your family members will never experience fraud or financial loss.

You agree that you will not:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable U.S. federal or state law
  • Harass, threaten, or harm any other person using the Service
  • Copy, resell, redistribute, reverse-engineer, or scrape any part of the Service or its content
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, infrastructure, or other users’ accounts
  • Use automated tools to harvest content from our website or emails
  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information when subscribing or contacting us

You are solely responsible for how you share content with family members, including forwarding emails or SMS alerts. Family Scam Shield may suspend or terminate your access without notice if these rules are violated or the Service is abused.

5. Accounts and Security

You are responsible for keeping your account information — including your email address and any login credentials — accurate and secure, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at info@familyscamshield.com if you suspect unauthorized access or use of your account.

6. Privacy and Cookies

Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy and Cookies & Tracking disclosure, which describe how we collect, use, and share personal information, including your rights under the CCPA/CPRA and other applicable U.S. state privacy laws. By using the Service, you acknowledge you have read and agree to those practices.

7. Intellectual Property

All text, graphics, logos, alert content, and other materials published through the Service are owned by Family Scam Shield or its licensors and are protected by U.S. copyright and trademark law. • Remove or alter any copyright or trademark notices
  • Republish or redistribute our content on any platform without written permission
  • Use our content in any competing product or service

8. Third-Party Services

The Service may include links to or integrations with third-party websites, email providers, SMS carriers, or messaging platforms. Family Scam Shield is not responsible for those services, their content, availability, or privacy practices. Your use of any third-party service is governed by that service’s own terms and policies.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR RELIABILITY OF ALERTS OR INFORMATION.

Family Scam Shield does not warrant that:

  • The Service will detect or describe every active scam or AI-related fraud scheme
  • Content will always be error-free, complete, or uninterrupted
  • Following our guidance will prevent any specific financial loss or fraud incident

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE U.S. LAW, FAMILY SCAM SHIELD AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AND CONTRACTORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF MONEY, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE EXTENT ANY LIABILITY CANNOT BE EXCLUDED, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS IN ANY 12-MONTH PERIOD IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE DURING THAT PERIOD.

Some U.S. states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so the above limitations may not fully apply to you.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Family Scam Shield and its owners, employees, and contractors from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will first be addressed through informal good-faith discussions. To initiate this process, email info@familyscamshield.com with a written description of the dispute. If the dispute is not resolved within 30 days, it shall be submitted to binding individual arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA).

You and Family Scam Shield each waive the right to a jury trial and the right to participate in any class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.

You have 30 days from first accepting these Terms to opt out of the arbitration clause by emailing info@familyscamshield.com with the subject line “Arbitration Opt-Out.” Opting out does not affect any other part of these Terms.

13. Changes to the Service or Terms

Family Scam Shield may update or modify the Service, including adding or removing features, at any time. These Terms may also be updated. For material changes, we will update the “last updated” date at the top of this page and notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
